There was only one survivor: a baby named [[Shredder|Saki Oroku]]. He was adopted into the Hamato Clan. Decades later, Oroku and [[Splinter|Yoshi Hamato]] fell in love with a woman named Shen Tang. Their rivalry was severely strained by this development. Upon discovering his heritage, Oroku and Hamato came to blows. The Hamato Clan's ancestral home burned, with Tang dying in the fire. Trapped under the debris, Hamato was left for dead, with Oroku taking their infant daughter, [[Karai Oroku|Miwa Hamato]], who he renamed Karai Oroku. Afterwards, he began calling himself the Shredder, and set out to rebuild the Foot Clan.
