• June 11 – The Dutch settle New Netherland, founding De Vries Dorp (now called Elizabethtown). The village will transform into a piece of Metropolis.

• March 20 – The English settle the New Haven Colony, founding the town of Poningo Nek (now called Rye). The town will transform into a piece of Metropolis.
• July 9 – The Dano–Norwegians settle Logerquist, founding the town of Jarlow (now called West Harlow). The town will transform into a piece of Gotham.

1638

• April 14 – The English settle the New Haven Colony, founding New Haven, the first planned city in America. The city will transform into a piece of New Haven County.
• June 28 – The Dutch settle New Netherland, founding the town of Heemstede (now spelled Hamstead). The town will transform into a piece of Metropolis.

• April 7 – The English settle the New Haven Colony, founding the town of Fairfield. The town will transform into a piece of Fairfield County.
• April 15 – The Dutch settle New Netherland, founding the town of Oyster Bay. The town will transform into a piece of Nassau County.
• July 18 – The Dutch settle New Netherland, founding the town of Emmaus (now called Allerton). The town will transform into a piece of New York.

• March 17 – The Dutch settle New Netherland, founding the town of Sint-Maarten (now spelled St. Martin). The town will transform into a piece of Metropolis.
• July 25 – The Dutch settle New Netherland, founding the town of Breuckelen (now called Flatlands). THe town will transform into a piece of New York.

• July 30 – The Dutch settle New Netherland, founding the town of Senre Ville (now spelled Senreville). The town will transform into a piece of Metropolis

• April 9 – The Dutch settle New Netherland, founding Oude Dorp (now called New Dorp). The town will transform into a piece of New York.
• April 29 – The Dutch settle New Netherland, founding Fort Hob (now called Metropolis Bay). The fort will transform into a piece of Metropolis.

1666

• May 10 – The English crown colony of Connecticut is subdivided into Fairfield County, Hartford County, New Haven County, and New London County.

1674

• November 10 – As provided in the Treaty of Westminster of February 19, the Dutch Republic cedes its colony of New Netherland to England. This includes the colonial capital, New Orange, which is returned to its English name of New York. The colonies of Berbice and Essequibo (now Guyana), and Suriname, remain in Dutch hands.

1683

• November 1 – The English crown colony of New York is subdivided into Albany County, Cornwall County (now part of Maine), Duchess County (now spelled Dutchess), Dukes County (now part of Massachusetts), Kings County, New York County, Orange County, Queens County, Richmond County, Suffolk County, Ulster County, and Westhcester County.
